“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour."

-Luke 4:18-19

New Day is a Bronx-based faith community committed to connecting with God in an authentic relationship. crossing boundaries, including race, class, sexual orientation, gender, and age – and confronting injustice with the compassion and abundance of God.

Our mission embodies the boundary-crossing work of Jesus. In scripture, he shows that love crosses the social boundaries that divide us. Example after example — like hanging out with tax collectors and prostitutes, rejecting separations between “clean” and “unclean,” and calling a despised Samaritan a neighbor and role model — depict Jesus crossing boundaries and encouraging us to do the same.

We invite you to bring all of who you are to New Day where we celebrate our gifts and calling across social boundaries.  Worship is primarily in English with some songs in Spanish and the scripture read in English and Spanish.  The sermon is in English with Spanish translation available.  We are moving intentionally toward becoming a people of color-centered church in our leadership, theology and practice.  We abhor the discriminatory policies of the larger church against LGBTQ people and women.  We joyfully celebrate marriage, ordination and the gifts of leadership and service in people in all our variety of sexual orientations and gender identities.   You are invited to explore our powerful Womyn’s Ministry and Living Faith groups and to join us each June for Queer Liberation Month.
